Here’s How To Clean Your Tongue Scraper

How To Clean Your Tongue Scraper 

Three ways to clean your copper tongue scraper are by using:

  • A Salt And Vinegar solution
  • Lemon
  • A chlorine dioxide solution

Cleaning Your Copper Tongue Scraper With A Salt And Vinegar Solution 

  1. Combine three-part vinegar and one part salt into a pan
  2. Bring your solution to a boil
  3. Remove your solution from the stove and pour the water into a bowl
  4. Allow your tongue scraper to soak the bowl for 10-15 minutes
  5. Remove any dirt, build-up, or tarnishing with a cloth
  6. Rinse your tongue scraper thoroughly
  7. Use a soft dry cloth to polish your tongue scraper

Cleaning Your Copper Tongue Scraper With Lemons

  1. Cut two lemons into halves. You can also use limes
  2. Juice your lemons or limes. You can add salt for added effect
  3. Scrub the tarnished areas of your tongue scraper with lime or lemon juice
  4. Use a soft dry cloth to polish your tongue scraper 

Cleaning Your Stainless Steel Tongue Scraper

Cleaning a stainless steel tongue scraper is a little different. All you need to do is wash your tongue scraper with warm water and soap and dry it with a soft cloth. 

Cleaning Your Tongue Scraper With Chlorine Dioxide Solution

Chlorine Dioxide Solution, also known as CDS, is made by diluting Chlorine Dioxide with water. We recommend making a  chlorine dioxide solution 3000 ppm. That means your solution contains 0.3% Chlorine Dioxide, then dilution the solutions to 20 ppm.

Chlorine Dioxide is an extremely powerful sanitizer and disinfectant. It has more than twice the oxidation power of bleach, making it highly effective for cleaning copper and Stainless steel tongue scrapers. It should be strongly noted that the treatment with 20 ppm of chlorine dioxide to clean the tongue cleaner. 

Here’s How To make a CDS 20 ppm solution. 

Talk 1 ml or part CDS 3000 ppm and 149 parts or ml of water. Mix together  and you now have 20 ppm

After making your chlorine dioxide solution, you can clean your tongue scraper by leaving it to soak in the solution for 10 - 15 minutes, then rub the tarnished areas until it’s removed. After you’ve rubbed your tongue scraper thoroughly,  rinse it thoroughly with clean water.
